Revitalising, Non-Surgical Anti-aging on The Wirral, Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales

If you come to The Sandstone Dental Practice for a healthy smile, why not frame that smile with the rested, revitalised complexion it deserves? With facial aesthetics in Heswall, our patients can take advantage of anti-wrinkle injections (botulinum toxin) and dermal fillers – both clinically proven to deliver excellent and safe results. As dentists, we’re exceptionally well qualified to carry out anti-ageing injections – our knowledge of facial anatomy, combined with our enhanced aesthetic training, helps us transform tired, dull complexions subtly and naturally. Rest assured that we will take the time to discuss your concerns fully. We’ll formulate a holistic treatment plan that not only addresses the treatment of your concerns, but also provides a preventive strategy to help you get the very best out of your aesthetic treatments in the long term.

Botulinum Toxin

If you’re looking for anti-wrinkle treatment in the Wirral, The Sandstone Dental Practice has the answer with botulinum toxin injections. Our experienced facial aesthetics practitioner, Dr Kate Blundell, uses botulinum toxin to relax the deep expression lines caused by muscle contraction for a rejuvenated look. Completely safe and backed by decades of scientific research, botulinum toxin is particularly effective on the forehead and around and between the eyes. With repeated treatments, you’ll not only smooth out the areas that currently bother you, but you’ll mitigate against the formation of future lines and wrinkles too.

Dermal Fillers

Like botulinum toxin, dermal fillers come with decades of clinical backing and we’re very pleased to be able to offer this treatment at The Sandstone Dental Practice. Dermal fillers offer a different route to anti-ageing by plumping out folds, lines and wrinkles in the skin and restoring lost volume in the face.

Dermal fillers consist of a synthetic form of hyaluronic acid – the moisture-replenishing substance that occurs naturally in our bodies – and are especially suited to plumping lips and the areas around the mouth, nose and brow. They can even be used to re-contour the face, smoothing out unwanted bumps, for example, or creating a more sculpted and defined look by adding volume to the cheeks, temples or chin area.

Dermal fillers work well alongside botulinum toxin injections for a refreshed, anti-ageing effect, and the team at the Sandstone Dental Practice can create a personal plan tailored to you, combining multiple treatment methods that will help you to achieve your own desired aesthetic goals.

Here at The Sandstone Dental Practice, Dr Kate Blundell uses dermal filler products of the highest quality based on vast research and excellent levels of brand support. Her ethos is to only offer patients products that she loves and trusts enough to use in her own face, a mantra that ensures the best results, safety and peace of mind for all patients.

Renew Skincare

Dr Kate Blundell’s signature skincare range is ideal for use alongside our facial aesthetics treatments here at The Sandstone Dental Practice. ReNEW has been specifically developed to maintain good skin health on a daily basis, fighting the first signs of ageing by targeting each layer of the skin to thoroughly hydrate the whole face. The range introduces an affordable, clinically proven integrated mix of products that work to achieve brighter and healthier skin.

As we age, we lose moisture and elasticity in our skin, which causes wrinkles and other signs of ageing to appear. ReNEW rehydrates skin with a series of clinically proven ingredients. It includes lightweight, non-oily hydrators and skin-revitalising serums to stimulate collagen and elastin, while helping skin to repair and renew more rapidly.

The range has been developed with your daily skin health needs in mind and will help refine pores and minimise fine lines and wrinkles, as well as address any pigmentation issues.

Treatment for Hyperhydrosis on The Wirral

Hyperhydrosis, or excessive sweating, is a common condition that can be stressful to live with. While everyone sweats when they are hot or during exercise, for some people sweating happens even when the body doesn’t need to cool down. With botulinum toxin injections in the armpits, we can treat excessive sweating effectively at The Sandstone Dental Practice. Because we are CQC-registered, we are able to offer botulinum toxin treatment for hyperhydrosis in-house.

Microneedling

Microneedling, or Collagen Induction Therapy (C.I.T), at The Sandstone Dental Practice is an aesthetic procedure that involves puncturing the skin with tiny, sterile needles. This creates tiny channels in the skin, which has two benefits. The first is that these channels allow anything applied topically (creams, serums, etc) to penetrate deeper into the skin, meaning that the active ingredients will have even more of an impact.

The second benefit is that the needling is seen by the skin as an ‘injury’, thus triggering the rapid regeneration of collagen, elastin and keratin cells, all of which boost skin quality even without the application of products.

The needles used for microneedling are a tiny 0.07mm, thinner than your own hair, and we always apply numbing cream, which means the treatment itself is not at all painful at all.

Chemical Peels

Did you know that Cleopatra, the last pharaoh of ancient Egypt, bathed in fermented milk? This was a key part of her beauty regime, and while it might seem crazy, we now know that fermented milk contains lactic acid, meaning that Cleopatra was actually enjoying the benefits of chemical peels. Perhaps this was the secret to her world-renowned beauty!

Chemical peels are a great addition to any skincare routine as they work to improve the appearance of the skin. There are a variety of skin conditions that can be treated by chemical peels at The Sandstone Dental Practice, including: acne scars, ageing skin, crow’s feet and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, melasma, scars, sun damage, and sagging skin. The procedure takes between 10-30 minutes, depending on the type of peel being carried out.

There are three different types of peel:

Superficial or lunchtime peel: An alpha-hydroxy acid or another mild acid is used to penetrate only the outer layer of skin to gently exfoliate it. The treatment is used to improve the appearance of mild skin discoloration and rough skin as well as to refresh the face, neck, chest or hands.

Medium peel: Glycolic or trichloroacetic acid is applied to penetrate the out and middle layers of skin to remove damaged skin cells. The treatment is used to improve age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, freckles and moderate skin discoloration. It also can be used to smooth rough skin.

Deep peel: Tricholoracetic acid or phenol is applied to deeply penetrate the middle layer of skin to remove damaged skin cells. The treatment removes moderate lines, age spots, freckles and shallow scars. Patients will see a dramatic improvement in skin appearance. The procedure is used on the face and only can be performed once.

The downtime following a chemical peel varies depending on the specific treatment and your skincare specialist will explain what to

FAQs

That might have once been the case, but the rise of dentists qualified in facial aesthetics has made botulinum toxin and dermal fillers much more accessible. While the procedures are quick and non-invasive, the qualifications required to administer botulinum toxin and dermal fillers are universal – so you’ll receive the same expertise and results right here on the Wirral as you would in W1.

The cosmetic benefits of botulinum toxin were discovered in 1990 and it has been used effectively and safely ever since. It is widely used in various other areas of medicine and, due to the very small dosage, is very safe. It is only placed locally in certain muscles with a high level of precision to achieve the desired result.

If you are bothered by those early signs of ageing – sunken cheeks, pronounced lines between the nose and corners of the mouth, hollow eyes or deep lines and wrinkles – dermal fillers could be the ideal solution for creating a youthful, rejuvenating complexion boost. At The Sandstone Dental Practice, our experienced dentists use their aesthetic judgement and skill to create subtle, natural-looking results.

Botulinum toxin typically takes around 10 days to take effect. With dermal fillers, you’ll see results immediately, though you may experience a little swelling or bruising, which will subside naturally.

Generally botulinum toxin and dermal fillers will last for around three months before a repeat procedure is required.
